Record-Low Flows Hit Skagit and Wenatchee Gauges in Washington Drought
The Washington State Climate Office reported on Aug. 10 that, as of Aug. 6, 20 gauges across the state were reporting record low daily streamflow, and that the Wenatchee River had been near the 5th to 10th percentile this summer. Its Sept. 10 update said many stations along the Skagit, Nooksack, Puyallup and Wenatchee rivers were at record lows on Sept. 3, though early September rain temporarily boosted streamflows in western Washington. Capital Press reported on Sept. 15 that some level of drought covered roughly 71.5% of Washington.
